
Marshall County crossed Hwy. 68 to play neighbor Christian Fellowship who hosted the first of two 4th District contests. The Lady Marshals pulled out a 59-51 win to improve to 3-0 in district play while the Lady Eagles drop to 1-2.
CFS led the entire first quarter, then the game settled into a back-and-forth battle in the second and third quarters with seven lead changes and three ties. The Lady Marshals began to pull away slightly in the fourth quarter, then stretched their lead to 10 before finishing out 3-of-6 at the free throw line in the final 41 seconds to earn the eight-point win.
Gracie Howard opened the game up with a three-pointer which was the start of a 7-0 run for CFS with baskets by Lillian Burnett and Rhema Howard before the Lady Marshals got on the board with two free throws from Madyson Morton.
Marshall County cut the CFS lead to one point at 9-8 on a basket by Peyton Weitlauf but four straight points from Gracie Howard put CFS back up by five before Laken Schroader’s basket cut it to three points to end the quarter.

Morton tied the game at 15-15 with a three pointer in the second quarter and free throws from Schroader gave the Lady Marshals their first lead. They would tie up again at 23-23 before a basket by Schroader gave the Lady Marshals a lead they would hold onto, leading 30-27 at halftime.
With both teams putting up 11 third quarter points, the Lady Marshals held a three-point lead at 41-38 heading into the fourth. The Lady Marshals scoring fueled by two threes from Mia Teague and one by Chevelle Henson. The Lady Eagles led by Gracie Howard with five in the quarter.
A three pointer by Georgia Hall put the Lady Marshals up 49-42 in the fourth but it was followed by a steal from Renee Shields for CFS who pitched the ball to Gracie Howard for the lay in to cut the lead back to five.
The Marshall County lead stretched to 10 points at 56-46 but CFS continued to battle, getting a three pointer from Jackson with 41.4 seconds remaining to make it a seven-point game. With time running out, CFS fouls sent the Lady Marshals to the free throw line where they hit half of their six attempts, enough to pull out the 59-51 win.
A big night of scoring for Gracie Howard who had 28 points for CFS to lead all scorers. Marshall County was led by Mia Teague with 15 points.
They will meet again on February 3 at Marshall County.
