“Our Senate Majority Caucus has great diversity of thought and professional expertise,” said President Robert Stivers. “We have physicians, lawyers, educators, and small business owners prepared to lead the commonwealth with sound policy initiatives in the 2023-24 General Assembly.”
Carroll has previously served co-chair of the Early Childhood Education Task Force during the 2022 Interim and was a Senate Health and Welfare Committee member. The Senate divided the Health and Welfare Committee into two new committees to provide opportunities for additional consideration of social service and health service issues. Those committees are the Families and Children Committee and the Health Services Committee.
“I am thrilled with the way the Senate has chosen to reconfigure its focus on matters relevant to health and welfare policies,” Carroll said. “We have a great opportunity to better evaluate and improve programs and services designed to support families, children and some of Kentucky’s most vulnerable populations.”
In addition to child welfare, the Senate Health Services committee will also have jurisdiction over adult protective services, the state guardianship program, child care and public assistance programs such as SNAP, TANF, and CCAP.
