Perry’s 36 points leads Lyons to Hoopfest win over South Warren

Travis Perry put up 36 points in Lyon County’s 94-65 win over South Warren in Thursday’s Marshall County Hoopfest.

Four games opened the 2022 Hoopfest Thursday night session with all eyes, including Purdue Head Coach Matt Painter and staff from Mizzou and Iowa, peeled on Lyon County junior Travis Perry. Perry has 15 offers so far which includes the schools present on Thursday.

Perry scored 36 points in Lyon County’s 94-65 win over South Warren and dropped in eight of the Lyons 15 made 3-pointers. He is on track to break Lyon County’s all-time scoring record held by Ty Rogers (3,330) which could possibly come in the Lyon’s next game at home today against University Heights. Perry is also chasing Kentucky’s high school all-time scoring record of 4,337 points set by King Kelly Coleman in 1956.

Massac County and Graves County girls played the first game of the evening. Massac County won 50-45, led by game MVP Brooklyn Burnett with 18 points. Graves County was led in scoring by sophomore Hannah Glisson with 18 points

Christian Doerr (2) of Evangel Christian led the scoring with 24 points in their 72-51 win over Graves County.

Graves County’s Eagles lost 72-51 to Evangel Christian in the second game on Thursday. Junior Christian Doerr led Evangel Christian with 24 points. Junior Tatum Holland led Graves County scoring with 16 points. The Eagles are 1-1 after opening the season with a 70-56 win over Hickman County. Evangel Christian, out of the Sixth Region, improve to 1-1. They lost their season opener to Walton-Verona 102-100 in overtime.
