A woman wanted on drug trafficking charges was arrested this morning outside of the McCracken County Courthouse.
Officers recognized Shelia A. “Annie” Shumpert, who was sitting in a car on Clarence Gaines Street in front of the courthouse. She was indicted on four counts of trafficking a controlled substance on Nov. 4. The charges against her stem from a now 20-month-long investigation into the illegal sale of fentanyl in Paducah. Twenty-three people were charged with various drug offenses in September, and the investigation has been continuing since.
Shumpert was arrested and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
Detectives said the investigation is ongoing, and more people likely will be charged.
