beware-of-scammers

Being aware of potential scams is always important, especially this time of year. Tammi Lynn Matteson and Beth Pike with the CFSB Fraud Center joined us recently on WCBL’s Coffee Call program. Matteson says to watch out for suspicious phone calls, text messages, emails and online messages and to never give personal information to someone unless you are certain who you are talking to. She says scammers treat it like a business and can be very persuasive so you always need to be on guard. And if you think you have disclosed personal information or banking information to someone you shouldn’t have, to contact your financial institution immediately.
