Gerald Dean Barrett, age 82, of Calvert City, KY, died Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital in Murray, KY. Mr. Barrett was a member of IUOE Local 181 retiring as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Woodrow Barrett and the late Naomi (Kennedy) Barrett. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, Beverly (Edwards) Barrett; one daughter: Becky Barrett; son-in-law: Allan Hamlett; two sisters: Shirley Smith and Glynda Parker; and one great grandchild: Lyla Dotson.
He is survived by his second wife of 16 years, Lindy (Rudolph) Barrett of Calvert City, KY; one son: Johnny Barrett and wife Kayla of Benton, KY; three daughters: Jenny Sutherland and husband Trandon of Symsonia, KY, Gela Hamlett of Benton, KY, and Emily Scott and husband Justin of Sharpe, KY; two brothers: Lonnie Barrett of Calvert City, KY and Jerry Barrett of Murray, KY; two sisters: Charlene Smith of Calvert City, KY and Sandra Faith of Calvert City, KY; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, October 17, 2022. at the Collier Funeral Home and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the Little Cypress Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at Little Cypress Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 18, 2022, with Rev. Jewell Barrett officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Benton, KY.
