Monday’s 4-0 Region 1 semifinal win over St. Mary was an historic one for the Lady Marshals – it was their 500th win in program history. Just the second girls’ soccer team in the state to accomplish the milestone, right behind South Oldham who hit the mark earlier this season.
At the start of the 2022 season, South Oldham had a record of 486-176-28 since their program began in 1990. Marshall County’s record was 484-150-43 since their program start one year later in 1991.
Head Coach Michael Boone also became the winningest coach in Lady Marshals soccer history with the win.
Under 20 seconds in, Kelsey Crass scored for a quick 1-0 lead and followed it up with her second goal of the game to give the senior 27 on the season so far. A header into the goal by Abby Bevil off a corner kick gave them a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Anna Robertson earned her 20th goal of the season, scoring the fourth goal of the game with just two minutes remaining.
Parker Perry had one save and the Lady Marshals kept St. Mary goalkeeper Kaitlyn Burrus very busy with over 20 saves in the game.
They advance to Wednesday’s championship game against McCracken County who defeated Murray 2-1. The game starts at 6:00 at McCracken County High School.
