Trinity Beth individual state champion, Lady Marshals finish runner-up

The two-time defending state champion Lady Marshals came up a little short in their bid for a third straight title in today’s final round of the KHSAA Girls Golf State Championship. They finished runner-up to Madison Central by 17 strokes.

Madison Central held a seven-stroke lead going into today’s round and finished the tournament at +54 (320-314/634). The Lady Marshals finished +75 (327-324/651). Madison Central finished runner-up to the Lady Marshals in last year’s state tournament.

Trinity Beth is the 2022 Individual State Champion with a two-day score of 1-under par (72-71/143). Beth, who led Lyon County’s Cathryn Brown by one stroke heading into today’s round, won by three strokes over Brown who finished second at +1 (73-73/146). Two players tied for third at +4, Macie Brown of Bullitt East and Elizabeth Eberle of Madison Central. Last year, Beth finished runner-up to individual champion Macie Brown.

Scoring for the Lady Marshals – Katie Roberts tied for 16th at +22 (85-81/166), CeCelia Ray finished tied for 37th at +25 (80-89/169), Skylar Waller tied for 45th with +29 (90-83/173) and Elsie Riley finished in a tied for 69th at +41 (91-94/185).
