Marshals focused on claiming #1 district seed

A six-game win streak was snapped when the Marshals fell 8-0 to Bowling Green on Saturday, the two teams playing for the first time in 10 years. Since the year 2000, they have played six times and the Purples have won the last five. Bowling Green is currently ranked fourth in the KHSAA RPI standings and have lost two games to fellow Region Four opponents South Warren and Warren Central.

Bowling Green scored four goals in the first half and four in the second, led by senior Shukurani Makiwa who had two goals and two assists. Marshall goalkeeper, Steven Claborn had 10 saves.

The Marshals currently have two games left in the regular season next week against Mayfield and Calloway County. They will clinch the #1 seed for the district tournament with a win Thursday at home over the Lakers.

Two wins last week came over St. Mary and Graves County, both shutouts.

In the 3-0 win over St. Mary, Jericho Evans scored two goals and Landon Kinder had one. Cohen McLeod had one assist.

They beat Graves County 10-0 in what was their seventh shutout of the season. Zander Maxlow led with three goals and Logan Parker had two. A goal each was scored by Cade Sorrels, Jeremy Jaco, Logan Davis, Hayden McMillen and Jericho Evans. Assists on goals went to Ethan Tabor and Isaac Reynolds with two each and one to Tommy Robertson. Claborn had one save.
