Calvert City Pickleball players compete in Saluki Open

Calvert City Pickleball players had another great weekend in Carbondale, Ill. participating in the Saluki Open August 26-28. This tournament is known for attracting some very strong competition.   With 181 entries over three days on 15 outdoor courts, 20 players from far Western Kentucky brought home 13 medals – 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze.

Robby (Gary) Robertson, one of our newest members playing in his first ever pickleball tournament, partnered with Dax Myhand and they brought home gold medals in 4.0 Men’s Doubles Division.  Our very own, Kayla Travis, just got sponsored by HUDEF Pickleball and won Gold in her first ever Singles tournament.

Our players are advancing in divisions and making a name for themselves showing they can compete and win at those levels. Our group is made up of players from Marshall County, Callaway County, McCracken County, Graves County, Caldwell County, Livingston County and Lyon County.

Leigh Toby / Jacob Hill – 4.0 Mixed Doubles
Kayla Travis / Jason Jones – 3.5 Mixed Doubles
Todd Dotson – 3.5 Men’s Singles 

Others participating were Kent Cadwell, Christian Capiz, Rhiannon Greer, Holly Locken, Carl Marquess, Chris Mitchell, Richie Throgmorton, Tonda Throgmorton, Jenny Travis and Joe Venice.
