Bessie Hartt Nelson, age 96, of Sun City, AZ formerly of Mayfield, KY passed away Wednesday
August 10, 2022 in Sun City, AZ.
She was a member of the Grace In The Desert Adventist Church in Sun City, AZ. Bessie retired
as a sales representative from Avon after working for over 58 years.
She is survived by one son Marvin (Diane) Nelson of Exton, PA; two daughters, Glenda Fay
(Charles) Doughty of Sun City, AZ and Teresa Lanette Phillips of Sun Valley, NV; one sister
Mary Anne Bennett of Umatilla, FL.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Nelson; two daughters Lorraine Kay
Nelson and Donna Jean Calkins; one son Wayne LaRoy Nelson; one brother Jonathan A. Hartt;
four sisters Lillian Burton Gushurst, Julia Mae Batchelor, Zelma Lou Junker, and Helen Doris
Eytcheson.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday August 30, 2022 at the Byrn Funeral
Home in Mayfield, KY. Pastor Chuck Kohley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dowdy
Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the
funeral home.
