Marshals tune up with final scrimmage against Union County

Friday night lights are back and the Marshals kick off the season at home next Friday, August 20, against Ballard Memorial. They hosted the Bombers in the season opener last year and won 62-0 and went on to win their second game 46-6 over Fulton County but finished off with a 3-8 record.

Head Coach Steve Etheridge enters his third season with a more experienced roster under his tutelage. Players that were freshman and sophomores in the unpredictable fall of 2020 when Etheridge took over the program, will lead the Marshals into the 2022 season and consists of 15 seniors and 12 juniors.

Back for the Marshals, senior Landon Utley who led in rushing as well as tackles in the linebacker position last season. Utley will be joined on both sides of the ball by seniors Kameron Bowerman and Conner Nix who also stepped in to take a few snaps in the quarterback position last year. Seniors Carter Beliles, Joe Gaudy and Aaron Smith bring experience back to the line, Wilson Shadowen also a dual position player and Parker Gibbs, a member of the soccer team, returns to kick.

Aiden Dunigan leads a strong group of 12 juniors that include Jackson Mahmet, Logan Parker and Gavin Clark. Eighteen sophomores and three freshmen round out the roster.
