
Marilyn was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on September 20, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Nunnelee, Jr. Her late grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wilson of Memphis, Tennessee and Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Nunnelee of Bloomfield, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Whitehead.
Marilyn is survived by a daughter, Courtney Elaine Walters; her sons, Mathew (Janet) Walters, Jeffery (Jennifer) Walters, Jason Walters; one brother, Edward Nunnelee; two sisters, Terri Nunnelee Snider and Jan Nunnelee Stone; and nine precious grandchildren.
Marilyn was a member of Mayfield First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the youth and chancel choirs when young. After graduating from Mayfield High School, she attended Murray State University as a music major. Marilyn loved music and dancing. She was blessed with a beautiful voice, loved to sing and play the piano. Marilyn had many other talents and interests like gardening, cooking, canning, crafts, and she did fine crochet work and loved her chickens.
Graveside services for Mrs. Marilyn Elaine Nunnelee Whitehead will be 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Burkley Cemetery in Burkley, KY. Matt Walters will officiate. Interment will follow.
Visitation will be 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. on Friday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.
