Lydia Smith receives “Rockstar” award at Ky. State Career and Technical Education Conference

Lydia Smith, Family Consumer Science Teacher at Marshall County Technical Center/High School, received the Kentucky Region 1 Family and Consumer Science “Rockstar” Adward at the 2022 Kentucky State Career and Technical Education Conference, held in Louisville this week.
According to the Kentucky FCCLA advisor, “The Kentucky Association Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences presents the Regional Rockstar award to individuals who work quietly behind the scenes to further the mission and purposes of Family and Consumer Sciences Education. The goal is to recognize outstanding individuals who exemplify an eagerness to serve their FCS colleagues and provide opportunities for students.”
“I am pleased to announce that I accepted the 2022 Region 1 Kentucky FCS Teacher Rockstar award at the KATFCS meeting in Louisville today”, Linda Smith commented. “Teaching Family and Consumer Sciences and advising the Marshall County Chapter of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America has been an absolute honor and I love helping students be their best selves in their families, workplaces, and communities. I am looking forward to another great year at MCTC!”
Mentor teacher and teaching partner Amy Cathey said, “I have had the pleasure of being Lydia’s teaching partner for four years.  I have been able to watch her grow from a brand new teacher to the outstanding teacher and FCCLA advisor she is today.  Lydia is always willing to go the extra mile to provide her students with the best education and experiences that she can.  In her short time she has been an educator, she has encouraged me to do and be better. This award is very well deserved!”
