Re: Fugitive Arrest

On Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at approximately 8:45 AM, deputies with the Graves County Sheriff’s Office and a trooper with the Kentucky State Police located and arrested an Illinois man on out-of-state warrants.

Malachi Johnson, 20 of Bellville, IL, was arrested Wednesday morning without incident at a business in the Hickory / Folsomdale area of Graves County. The Sheriff’s Office received information earlier this week that Johnson would be at a business in the Hickory / Folsomdale area today and that he was wanted out of St. Clair County, Illinois for disorderly conduct and aggravated battery of a police officer. The warrant was confirmed with Illinois authorities.

Graves County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jamie Clark set up in the area where the fugitive was going to be working and made a positive identification of Johnson. Sgt. Richard Edwards, Deputy Larry Jones and KSP Trooper Jay Dunn then moved in to arrest Johnson. Johnson was taken into custody without incident.

Johnson was charged with being a fugitive from another state and was transported to the Ballard County Jail where he will await extradition back to Illinois.
