Nimmo wins Irvin Cobb Championship

The 86th Irvin Cobb Championships were held this past weekend at Paxton Park Golf Course. A Pro-Am event kicked off the weekend on Friday and the win went to two former Marshall County High School players and one current. Jay Nimmo and Tyler Powell, MCHS alums and current Murray State University players along with current high school player Trey Wall and Professional Frey Meyer shot 57 (-14) to win by one stroke.

Nimmo went on to take the Amateur win on Sunday by three strokes at 5-under par (67-60/137). Powell finished tied for third (69-72/141) and Wall tied for seventh (72-74/146). MCHS team member, Ryan Stokes, placed second among Juniors and finished tied for eighth overall (76-72/148).

Tim O’Neal of Savannah, Georgia won the Pro division by three strokes with 9-under (66-67/133).
