Marshals will play Mustangs for Region 1 title

Designated hitter, Maddox Cope, drove in the Marshals first two runs in the second inning in their 3-0 semi-final win over Graves County.

For the first time since 2017, the Marshals are back in the Region 1 championship game after Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Graves County. Reese Oakley threw the complete game shutout, striking out six while allowing four hits and walked one.

Following a single by Jace Driver, walk drawn by Parker Gibbs and single by Reese Oakley to load the bases, Maddox Cope hit a single to center field that scored Driver and Gibbs for a 2-0 Marshall County lead in the bottom of the second.

With two on and two outs in the bottom of the fourth, a double by Ethan Landis scored the Marshals third run and it would be the last run of the night to cross the plate.

The Marshals will meet McCracken County (32-6) in the championship game at 6:00 at Graves County High School. The Mustangs beat Calloway County 10-3 to advance.
