Christian Fellowship’s Burnett and Hovekamp advance to state track meet

Two Christian Fellowship athletes competed in the Region 1 Class 1A track meet held at Murray High on Saturday. Both finished second and will advance to the Class 1A State Track and Field Championships on Thursday, June 2.

Lily Burnett and Isaac Hovekamp both placed second in discus. Lily threw 98-00 on Saturday and Isaac threw 120-09. Murray’s Jade Oakley took the discus win with a throw of 106-10 and Lyndell Smith of Fort Campbell took the boys win with 122-06. Murray girls and Fort Campbell boys won the overall team standings.

Isaac also placed 3rd in the Area 1 Championships held on May 7 at Marshall County High School with a new personal record of 127-03.

Discus prelims and finals on June 2 begin at 9:00 for the girls and 10:30 for the boys at the University of Kentucky Track and Field Complex.
