


**UPDATE** – With the aid of numerous tips, detectives were able to identify the suspect in this case as Bronson T. Lindsey (32 years old of Rockport, IN). An arrest warrant was obtained for Mr. Lindsey while agencies continued to search the Spencer County area where he was last seen.
At approximately 5:12 am on May 15th, 2022, he was located in Spencer County by agencies assisting in the search. Based on the arrest warrant that was obtained, he is being held pending extradition in the Spencer County Jail.
The charges for Mr. Lindsey are listed below.
• Robbery – 1st Degree
• Assault – 1st Degree (Police Officer)
• Wanton Endangerment – 1st Degree (Police Officer)
• Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
• Theft by Unlawful Taking of an Automobile – $10,000 – $1,000,000
• Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)

SHOOTING – On Saturday, May 14th, 2022 at approximately 8:54 pm, officers from the Owensboro Police Department were investigating a suspicious person at 1816 Triplett Street (Eagles Convenience Store). This individual and his vehicle matched the description from an earlier reported robbery at 217 E. 25th Street (Franey’s Food Mart).
During questioning, the suspect began a physical altercation with officers. During the altercation the suspect fired 1 round from a handgun he had concealed. An officer was struck. The suspect immediately stole an Owensboro Police Department police vehicle belonging to the officer and fled the scene.
The officer was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by AMR ambulance and is believed to have non-life threatening injuries.
The stolen Owensboro Police Department police vehicle was recovered a short time later in Spencer County, Indiana.
Numerous law enforcement agencies are assisting in the search for this suspect, including the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Jasper Police Department, and Santa Claus Police Department.
