Lady Marshals claim #1 district tournament seed

Allicen Harris earned the win from the circle and batted in all four of the Lady Marshals runs in Friday’s 4-2 district win over Murray.

With Friday’s 4-2 win over Murray, the Lady Marshals secured the #1 seed in the 4th District Tournament. All four runs were brought in by Allicen Harris on a two-run single in the first inning and a double in third.

The 4-0 lead held until the top of the sixth when Murray put two runs on the board on a steal of home by Sydney Wyatt and double off the bat of Kylie Chapman and the two tying runs were left stranded.

Harris pitched five and a third innings to earn the win, allowing three hits and two runs while the save went to Gracelyn Darnall.

Following Friday’s win over Murray, the Lady Marshals dropped two games on Saturday in the Owensboro Catholic Classic.

They lost 3-2 to Apollo in the first game. Tied a 2-2 at the end of the fourth inning, Apollo scored the go-ahead run in the fifth and it was enough to hold on for the 1-run win. The Lady Marshals scored a run in the third on a single by Anna Vasseur and one in the fourth on a hit from Chevelle Henson.

The pitching was good on both sides, allowing five hits each, but the loss went to Tia Thorpe over five innings. Thorpe struck out one, allowed four hits and three runs. Bullington struck out eight on her way to picking up the win while giving up five hits and two runs.

In Saturday’s second game, they lost 3-1 to Owensboro Catholic. Down 2-0 after three innings, the Lady Marshals got a run on the board in the fourth on a single by Allicen Harris that scored Anna Vasseur.

The win went to Brooke Hamilton who allowed four hits and one run while striking out 10. The loss went to Darnall who stuck out four, allowed 10 hits and three runs.

The Lady Marshals put 14 hits together on Monday to beat Caldwell County 7-2. Allicen Harris batted in three runs on a ground out in the first and single in the sixth. Anna Vasseur scored on a wild pitch in third inning to tie the game at 2-2 and they took a 3-2 lead in the fourth on a sacrifice by Charley Pursley.

Madyson Morton scored on an error in the fifth and a sacrifice by Chloe Coursey and Harris’ single in the sixth scored the final three runs.

The Lady Marshals (18-13) will play at Paducah Tilghman tonight in their final regular season game.
