
She is survived by a cherished and devoted daughter, Denise (Anthony) Alberico; grandchildren, Benjamin L. Phillips, Cassandra C. Alberico, and Ailey N. Alberico; great-grandchildren, Johnny R. Arnold and Lorelei Paisley; her sister-in-law, Diane Ureche, numerous nieces and nephews and dear and cherished friends, Connie Allison (who was like another daughter) and Ruth Scherry.
Mary devoted her career to homemaking and was also employed at Carson’s in Joliet, Illinois. She had a talent and passion for cake decorating, creating the most beautiful cakes for all who asked. She was an avid reader and lover of cooking shows, especially Lidia and also enjoyed needlework. Mary was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Lockport, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth (Mieno) Ureche; her husband of 45 years, VIncent L. Scalzo; her sister, Betty Weiss and brother-in-law, Richard Weiss, two brothers, John (Diane) Ureche and Peter (Phyllis) Ureche and dear cherished “best buddy” James Pelc.
Private funeral and inurnment services will be conducted.
