Flatt sets new 1600 meter record at Kirkwood Invitational

Cade Flatt won the 1600 meters at Kirkwood on Saturday, setting a new school record and current fastest time in Kentucky in 4:12.97.

Marshall County’s track team traveled to St. Louis last weekend to compete among a field of 28 teams at the Dale Collier Invitational.

Cade Flatt set a new school record, current top time in the state and the sixth fastest high school time ever in the state of Kentucky with his first place finish in the 1600 meters in 4:12.97. Ben Fiser took first in discus (153-09.25) and second in shot (52-07.00) at Kirkwood. Cole Mills placed second in high jump with 6-01.25.

More top 10’s for the boys’ team came from Preston Lamb with a fifth place finish in the 400 meters (52.26). Samuel Lanham took eighth in the 3200 meters (10:22.84) and the 4 x 400 relay team placed 10th (3:35.04).

The girls’ team posted four top 10 times on Saturday. Georgia Hall placed third in discus (105-06.50), the 4 x 800 relay took sixth (10:41.41), Leah Vincek crossed in seventh in the 800 meters (2:29.79) and Addison Lyles placed eighth in the 3200 meters (12:41.83).
