
The Lady Marshals began last week with a 13-0 shut out over Ballard Memorial followed by a 6-5 walk-off win over Christian County. Friday, they matched up against #1 McCracken County and fell 14-5 to the Lady Mustangs.
Tuesday’s win over Ballard Memorial came on 11 hits led by Charley Pursley who was 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI’s. Madyson Morton hit a double and brought in three runs in the Lady Marshals shut out.
A 4-0 lead after four innings grew to 13-0 after the Lady Marshals exploded for nine runs in the top of the fifth. Pursley, Chloe Coursey and Allicen Harris led the inning off with singles. Gracelyn Darnall singled to drive in two runs, a single by Merriel Jackson scored the seventh run, Marin Oakley and Morton walks brought in two more, Kenzie Terry scored on an error and the lead was 10-0.
Pursley’s double brought in the 11th run, Anna Vasseur scored on a ground out RBI by Trinlee Anderson and Pursley scored the 13th run on a ground ball hit by Macy McLeod that ended the game in five innings.
Harris allowed four hits and no runs over five innings to earn the win from the circle.

Tied 2-2 at the end of seven innings, the Lady Marshals and Christian County went into extra innings on Thursday and each team plated two runs in the eighth to remain tied at 4-4.
Christian County scored a run in the top of the ninth to take a one-run lead but in the bottom of the inning, the Lady Marshals tied it 5-5 on an RBI single by Madyson Morton and earned the 6-5 win on a walk-off double by Chloe Coursey that brought home Morton.
Gracelyn Darnall was in the circle for nine innings to pick up the win. The sophomore struck out two, allowed seven hits and three runs.

Friday against top ranked McCracken County, the Lady Marshals took an early 2-0 lead on a bunt by Chloe Coursey and sacrifice fly from Allicen Harris. The Lady Mustangs went on to take a 6-2 lead after five innings. Both teams added a run in the sixth before McCracken’s 7-run seventh inning put the game out of reach. The Lady Marshals scored two in the bottom of the inning but fell 14-5.
The five runs were the second most scored against the Lady Mustangs this season.
Two home runs for McCracken County were hit by Ally Hutchins, a solo in the top of the third and a solo by Zoe Smithson in the top of the sixth who finished 3-for-3 with three RBI’s.
Anna Vasseur and Gracelyn Darnall each had two hits for the Lady Marshals. Coursey led in RBI’s with two.
Annie White picked up the win in seven innings for the Lady Mustangs, striking out four, allowing six hits and five runs.
