Wound center staff offers tips to keep feet healthy.
Benton, Ky. – The Advanced Wound Clinic with Dr. Julia Lyles is encouraging patients to put their ‘best foot forward’ this Foot Health Awareness Month by following a few simple healthy feet tips.

“Because we have seen the effects of delayed care, we continually stress the importance of preventative measures,” explains Tracy Cannon RN. “Putting your ‘best foot forward’ means routine foot checks – especially for those with diabetes or other systemic diseases, like peripheral arterial disease (PAD).”
Marshall County Advanced Wound Clinic recommends that patients routinely inspect their feet and monitor their nutrition, as issues with diabetes and obesity impact the feet. The center also recommends that patients:
- Wear shoes with socks or stockings.
- Regularly trim toenails.
- Wear properly fitted shoes.
- Limit walking barefoot.
- Regularly wash feel with soap and warm water; rinse well and pat dry.
