Richard Frizzell, 89, of Columbus, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Richard was born in Columbus on March 8, 1933 to the late Lewis and Audie Armstrong Frizzell. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Richard served two terms as Mayor of the city of Columbus. He was a very giving and unselfish person who was always willing to help those in need in his community. Richard also worked as a carpenter and was known as “The Gingerbread Man” for his exquisite work designing and building the Gingerbread accent pieces for gambles on old Victorian style homes. He loved working and spending his free time outdoors, especially fishing. Richard also had a love for baseball, being a St. Louis Cardinals fan for most his life. He loved being able to go see his grandchildren play baseball during the summers.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Debbie Poole of Columbus; one son, Rick Frizzell of Henderson, Nevada; six grandchildren, Adrienne Yamauchi of Clinton, Aaron (Jen) Frizzell of Gig Harbor, Washington, Taylor Frizzell of Las Vegas, Nevada, Trent (Hannah) Frizzell of Portland, Oregon, Jordan (Dianna) Frizzell of Charleston, South Carolina and Alex (Heather) Frizzell of Nashville, Tennessee; seven great-grandchildren, Izak Yamauchi, Kobe Yamauchi, Brinnley Frizzell, Kenna Frizzell, Taryn Frizzell, Isaac Frizzell and Phoebe Frizzell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Frizzell; one grandson, Travis Poole; four sisters, Helen Black, Georgia Quillen, Loraine Yarbrough and Vickie Frizzell; three brothers, TW Frizzell, Charles “Doc” Frizzell and Harold Frizzell; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Bro. Gaylon Bruer officiating. Burial will follow in Columbus Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the service time of 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the funeral home.
