
Marshall County’s girls track and field athletes opened the indoor part of their season at the McCracken County Winter Distance Carnival on Feb. 21 and took the team win. Individual first place finishes came from Leah Vincek in the 800 meters (2:38.90) and Katelynn Ringstaff in the mile (6:04.14).
Gracie Gideon placed third in the 400 meters (1:12.97), Macy Scott second in the 800 meters (2:54.66), Eden Sandlin was fifth in the mile (6:29.47) and Elizabeth Barrett finished seventh in the mile (6:56.94) to round out the rest of the results from McCracken County.
Monday, the team traveled to Marion, Ill. to compete in the Joe Elliott Girls Indoor Invitational. A new school record was set in the high jump by Presleigh Jennings with a jump of 5-02. Katelynn Ringstaff recorded her second first place of the indoor season, taking the win in the 1600 in 5:56.82.
Top 10 results came from Charley Pursley with sixth in the 200 meters (29:32) and ninth in the 60 meters (8.64). Leah Vincek placed third in the 400 meters (1:06.69), Eden Sandlin placed eighth in the 1600 meters (6:29.80) and Macy Scott was 10th in the 1600 meters (6:36.73).
Top 10’s in field events, along with Presleigh Jennings first place in the high jump- Rylee Thompson finished third in the triple jump (31-02.75), Jennings placed seventh in triple jump (28-07.00), Bailey Allred finished seventh in shot (30-05.75) and Alyssa McClain eighth in shot (30-05.50).
The 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay teams finished fourth and the 4 x 200 placed fifth.
The team placed fourth overall.
