Mr. James W. “Sonny” Skaggs, age 89, of Hickory passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at his residence.
He was a member and deacon of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, a retired self-employed painter and a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Skaggs is survived by two sons, James Clayton (Jana) Skaggs of Metropolis, IL and Joel (Lisa) Skaggs of Lowes, KY; one brother, Philip Skaggs of Mayfield, KY; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo (Bazzell) Skaggs; one granddaughter, Casey Skaggs; one sister, Faye Neihoff; and his parents, Raymond and Mavis Osborne Skaggs.
Graveside services for Mr. James W. “Sonny” Skaggs will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022 at North Mt. Zion Cemetery. Rev. Alan Morris will officiate. Graveside military rites will be performed by American Legion Post # 26. Interment will follow.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.
