FRANKFORT, KY (February 8, 2022) – Military Kids Day, the annual event hosted at the Kentucky State Capitol, is scheduled to return on Tuesday, February 15. Sen. Danny Carroll (R-Benton) encourages families and children in the 2nd District to participate.

Military Kids Day is an annual event initiated by Sen. Jimmy Higdon (R-Lebanon) upon request of military families in his district, allowing military children to participate in the legislative process. Hosted by the Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committee, children are invited to go on a Capitol tour, page for their respective legislator, participate in a Capitol scavenger hunt and attend committee meetings related to military issues.

“I have so much admiration for children of military families because they sacrifice right alongside their parents who serve,” Carroll said. “Military Kids Day is a great experience for these kids and I would be particularly honored to be joined by military kids from my District.”

Military Kids Day returns after two years of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so lawmakers are excited to make this year’s event the most successful yet. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from military leaders and be recognized during committee and House and Senate floor proceedings.

To participate in Military Kids Day at the Kentucky State Capitol on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, starting at 9:00 a.m., please complete an application form available online HERE and submit it to Kentucky Senate Clerk Donna Holiday at Donna.Holiday@lrc.ky.gov.
