Marshall County is used to seeing a lot of 3-pointers drop in – and they had five against Owensboro Catholic in Thursday’s championship game of the South Warren FirstBank Bash – but Karmin Riley hit seven to lead the Lady Aces to a 62-57 win. It was the first loss of the season for the Lady Marshals who are 8-1 and Owensboro Catholic improves to 9-4.
Halle Langhi led the Lady Marshals with 18 points and 11 rebounds followed by Skylar Waller with 16. Waller was perfect at the free throw line hitting 8-of-8.
The Lady Marshals trailed by three points at the end of the first quarter and were down 32-23 at halftime. Both teams put up 19 points in the third quarter followed by a fourth quarter rally behind seven points from Waller that gave the Lady Marshals a brief lead before falling by five.
Riley led the Lady Aces with 21 points, all from 3-point range.
Monday, the Lady Marshals will play a varsity only game at Mayfield at 6:00 followed by a double-header at McCracken County on Tuesday.
