Three players in double-figures led the Lady Marshals to a big 57-23 district win over Murray on Tuesday making it five in a row over the Lady Tigers dating back to the 2019-20 season. Led by Jada Driver with 18 points, Halle Langhi 16 and Mia Teague 14, the Lady Marshals record stays unblemished at 5-0.
Through the first five games, Langhi has 87 points to lead the Lady Marshals with an average of 17.4 per game. Driver is averaging 14.2 points per game, Teague 8.4 and Chevelle Henson is averaging 8.0 per game.
After a slow start – neither team scoring through the first four minutes – the Lady Marshals led 13-5 at the end of the first quarter and held Murray to just two second quarter points to lead 30-7 at halftime.
Teague dropped in a 3-pointer to open the second half, her second of four in the game. The Lady Marshals went on to hit four more from beyond the arch in the quarter. Teague dropped in two more, Driver hit one of her five in the game and Neely Northcott finished the quarter on a three to put the Lady Marshals up 49-13.
Driver hit her fourth and fifth threes in the final quarter on the way to their 34-point win over the Lady Tigers.
In his post-game comments to WCBL’s Jeff Waters, Head Coach Aaron Beth was proud of the effort after no practices since Saturday’s win over Benton, Ill., adding, “I know everyone has a lot on their minds other than basketball right now.”
Friday’s game at home against McCracken County has been cancelled as well as the Dec. 21 game scheduled at Mayfield. The Lady Marshals will play Dec. 28-30 in the FirstBank Holiday Bash at South Warren.
