She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mayfield, KY. Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Ladies Bible Study, First Presbyterian Church Children Choir Director, and a member of the adult choir. She was also an avid member of the Mayfield Music Club, Red Hat Society, and the Mayfield Garden Club. Mrs. Matthews retired as a private music teacher.
Mrs. Matthews is survived by three daughters; Anna Louise Matthews (John) Roach of St. Louis, MO, Terri Lee Matthews (Kenneth) Dillon of Paducah, KY, and Mary Ellen Matthews of Mayfield, KY; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel E. Matthews; one brother, Dr. James W. Dees; one sister, Professor Caroline Dees; her parents were James O’Reagan and Louise Jones Dees.
A funeral is scheduled for 2:00PM Tuesday November 30, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in Mayfield, KY. Interment will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield, KY. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until 2:00PM Tuesday November 30, 2021 at the church. Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY is in charge of arrangements. Interment will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield, KY.
