Savannah Howell signs to play golf at Western Kentucky University

Savannah Howell signed with WKU on Wednesday at Marshall County High School joined by her parents Jon and Stacey Howell.

Savannah Howell signed her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to play golf at Western Kentucky University. She will play for Head Coach Adam Gary is in his eighth season leading the Lady Topper team.

Savannah has been a key member of the Lady Marshals golf team since the fifth grade when she made her first of eight trips to the KHSAA State Golf Tournament with the team. She has been an integral part of the Lady Marshals back-to-back State Championships of 2020 and 2021.

“Savannah is the ultimate team player and is willing to play any spot to help her team succeed”, Head Coach Aaron Beth said. “She is a leader both on and off the golf course.”

Some of her accomplishments throughout her high school career include:
1st Team All-State in 2019, 2020 and 2021
State Team title in 2020 and 2021
All-Region Team in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021

Savannah has won several high school tournaments since her sophomore year. She finished eighth in 2019, third in 2020 and 11th in 2021 in the All-State Championship. She also finished eighth in 2019, fifth in 2020 and 11th in 2021 in the State Championships.

She credits many people who have helped her get to where she is today including past and current coaches Vince Doom, Stephanie Fisk and Aaron Beth. Savannah also thanks many people who have helped her improve her golf game over the years including Todd Trimble, Barry Kight, Nick Newcomb, Megan McChrystal and Mitchell Lamm.

Savannah has been largely supported by her parents Jon and Stacey and brother Garrett throughout her entire golf career.

Along with her parents, Jon and Stacey, Savannah’s brother Garrett, family members, the golf team, friends and coaches were on hand for her signing.
