
Jimmy was born in Hayti, Missouri on May 27, 1947 to the late Noah and Thelma Gentry. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. Jimmy served his country in the US Navy and had a long successful career in sales. Jimmy was full of life and his presence was felt as soon as he entered a room. His friends and family were everything to him and he adored his grandkids and greats. Jimmy was a devout Christian and attended Twin Lakes Worship Center.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Morris Gentry of Paducah; one daughter, Brooke Gentry Clanton and husband, William of Rutherford, TN; one son, Nathan Taylor and wife, Jenny of Summerville, SC; two sisters, Linda Howard (Jimmy) and Sharon Gentry; two brothers, Jerry Gentry (Connie) and Benny Gentry (Sandy), all of Metropolis; five grandchildren, Gentry and Luke Clanton, Caden and Finley Taylor, Isabella Taylor; two-great grandchildren, Saint and Kreu.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wanda Mizell; two brothers, Jackie Gentry and Tommy Gentry; and one son, Jeremy Taylor.
A funeral service for Jimmy will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Short officiating. Burial will follow at Benton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
