In 2020, the Lady Marshals made school history winning the first-ever Leachman Buick GMC/KHSAA Girls’ State Golf Tournament team title and on Wednesday, they earned back-to-back titles and made history once again…breaking the old team state record of 615 set by Sacred Heart in 2013 – by one stroke with their two-day score of 614 (306-308).

They started Wednesday’s second round with a 20 stroke lead over Madison Central and by the end of play, they won the state title by 38 strokes, one stroke shy of their 39 stroke win in 2020.

Trinity Beth, the 2020 Ms. Golf, finished second at +2 (75-71/146) after starting the day tied for eighth. Her front nine was as steady as it gets with eight pars and a birdie on #2. She balanced two bogeys on the back nine with two birdies to finish the day 1-under, four strokes better than round one.

Megan Hertter finished ninth, improving one spot from her 10th place position on Tuesday. After a 3-over start through the first three holes, the senior settled in and finished the next six holes at 1-under. She went 3-over on the back nine to finish the tournament at +9 (77-76/153).

Savannah Howell finisher her high school career with 11th place individually. After a 1-under front nine, she shot 4-over on the back nine to finish +11 (75-80/155).

Katie Roberts shot +16 (79-81/160) and finished tied for 18th and Cecilia Ray rounded out the team’s scores at +25 (79-90/169) to finish tied for 46th.

Macie Brown from Bullitt East took the individual state title, the only player to shoot under par with 3-under (72-69/141) for the tournament. Brown finished third in 2020.

Region 1 champion, Lyon County’s Cathryn Brown, finished third at +3 (73-74/147) and the 2020 individual state champion, Apollo’s Macey Brown, finished in a three-way tie for fourth at +4 (73-75/148).

Following second place Madison Central (326-326/652) was Sacred Heart in third (335-329/664).
