Advancing to the 2nd District Championship with Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Calloway County, the Lady Marshals will be going for their fifth straight title. The win also punched their ticket to the Region 1 Tournament with a chance to go for the program’s 22nd.
A lightning delay set the game back 30 minutes at host Calloway County and the steady rain came down all 80 minutes of the game.
Four minutes in, Kallen Fuller’s header found the net off a corner kick from Zoe Maxlow, then Maxlow made it a 2-0 game 10 minutes later in a well-played first half by the Lady Marshals.
It remained 2-0 until the final 12 minutes of the match when Fuller scored her second goal from long range on an assist by Anna Robertson, and a minute after that, Maxlow picked up her second goal on an assist by Kelsey Crass.
It was their 15th shutout of the season and 18th win. Parker Perry had four saves in her 14th shutout of the year. They will play the winner of tonight’s Graves County/Murray game in Thursday’s title game at 5:00.
