Lady Marshals wrap regular season with 2-0 win over McCracken

The Lady Marshals concluded the regular season with a 5-2 win on Saturday in Elizabethtown against Central Hardin in the Bruin Classic and Tuesday, beat McCracken County 2-0 at home. They finish with a 17-3-0 record, the best in the region, and are perfect against regional opponents at 10-0 and district opponents at 8-0.

It’s the first time since the 2006 season the Lady Marshals have won against every 1st Region opponent, all shutouts except one, out-scoring them 53-1 – the one goal scored by Graves County. During the regular season, they out-scored all opponents 74-10 with 14 shutouts.

They are currently ninth in the state according the KHSAA RPI standings, rank second in goals allowed per game, goalkeeper Parker Perry ranks second in complete game shutouts with 13 and as a team rank third in shutouts.

Saturday against Central Hardin (8-8-1), the Lady Bruins scored four minutes in but it was tied up seven minutes later by Anna Robertson off a corner kick by Janie Pagel. Central Hardin scored again in the first half to lead 2-1 at halftime.

Presley Gallimore tied it 2-2 for the Lady Marshals eight minutes into the second half and from there, it was all Marshall County. Kallen Fuller scored the next two goals and the final goal in the 5-2 win came from Katelynn Ringstaff. Parker Perry finished with six saves.

In the final regular season game Tuesday against McCracken County (7-7-2) the Lady Marshals scored two goals in the final seven minutes of the first half. The first by Kelsey Crass and the second by Anna Robertson off a Crass assist. The 2-0 halftime lead held until the final whistle.

The 2nd District Tournament gets underway on Monday at Calloway County.
