Marshals remain unbeaten against district and regional opponents

In the month of September, the Marshals are 3-2 after an 8-0-2 start to the season. Recent wins have come over University Heights, Elizabethtown and Murray. The two losses were to North Oldham – the current #1 ranked team in the state, and Warren Central – currently ranked #9 according to Maher Rankings.

In their 9-0 win over UHA on Sept. 2, the Marshals were led by William Lynch with three goals and a goal each from Jase Strader, Kian Court, Jackson Boone, Collin Riley, Lane James and Alex Shaverin. Lynch, Strader and John Wood all assisted on two goals each.

In Bowling Green on Sept. 4 in the Purples Classic, the Marshals suffered their first loss of the season to North Oldham by a score of 3-0. Goalkeeper Steven Claborn had six saves. They beat Elizabethtown 5-2 in their second game of the Purples Classic. Riley led with two goals and Court, Eric Hicks and Lynch all had one goal each. Claborn had five saves and Blaise Grant had one.

Last Tuesday, the Marshals beat Murray 4-0 to earn their fifth district win and remain undefeated against district opponents. Lynch had two goals and one each scored by Colin Shadowen and Jericho Evans. Assists went to Court and Logan Parker. Claborn recorded three saves.

In Saturday’s home game against Warren Central, the Marshals lost 8-3. Riley scored two goals and had one assist, Lynch had one goal and Jack Noles an assist. Claborn had four saves.

Lynch’s 21 goals this season ranks 10th best in the state. As a team, the Marshals rank third in shut outs with seven – Claborn’s five shut outs ranks second and Grant with two ranks 29th. In their first 14 games, the Marshals 71 goals ranks 13th in the state.

This week, the Marshals will play St. Mary (2-4) on Tuesday and Graves County (4-5-1) on Thursday, both games at home.
