PADUCAH, Ky. (Aug. 25, 2021)  Interstate 24 is open to one lane traffic near the 28 mile marker at the site of a multi-vehicle crash earlier in the day that included a tanker trailer.

A crew has just arrived at the site to start off-loading the remaining light oil from the tanker that crashed.  That process is expected to take at least a couple of hours.  Once the off-loading is complete, the recovery crew may need to close the roadway for about 30 to 45 minutes to remove the damaged tanker.

That work and environmental cleanup activity will continue in the median area into the night.

At this time, all traffic is pushed to the right hand or driving lane at the crash site with one-lane traffic moving slowly through the area in each direction.

The estimated duration is now 4.5 hours or approximately 2 a.m., CDT.
