PADUCAH, Ky. (Aug. 20, 2021) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to establish a work zone along U.S. 62 in northern Marshall County starting Monday, August 23, 2021.
This Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) runs from mile point 0.0 at the Marshall-McCracken County Line to mile point 7.2 at the KY 95 intersection in Calvert City.
The project includes construction of a center turn lane through Possum Trot, and a left turn lane for U.S. 62 at the KY 1523/Industrial Parkway intersection to assist with traffic heading into the Calvert City Industrial Area.
It includes improvements to the U.S. 62/KY 95 intersection in Calvert City at the east end of the project area, as well as various improvements to culverts and shoulder areas along the route.
Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers at various points along the work zone during daylight hours. Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
Jim Smith Contracting, LLC, of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on this $2,085,491 safety project. The target completion date is July 31, 2022.
