Marshals tie Henderson County, shut out Hopkins County Central in Eagle Classic

Marshall County played two games on Saturday in Graves County’s Eagle Classic. The first against their long-time Region Two rival Henderson County followed by a contest against Hopkins County Central.

They led 4-2 at the end of regulation against Henderson County, but in stoppage time the Colonels came up with two huge goals to finish the game out on a 4-4 tie.

Marshall County goals were scored by Collin Riley with two and a goal each from Alex Shaverin and William Lynch. Keeper Blaise Grant had one save. Riley, Shaverin and Lynch all recorded assists.

Henderson County keeper Boone McElroy had eight saves and two players shared the four goals – Carter Denton and Braeden Myers-Curry. Both teams were 2-0 coming in.

They beat Hopkins County Central 10-0 in their second game of the Eagle Classic. Jericho Evans led with the hat-trick with seven others scoring a goal a piece including William Lynch, Eric Hicks, Zander Maxlow, Collin Riley, Colin Shadowen, Alex Shaverin and Jase Strader. Assists went to Lynch with three, Riley had two and Evans with one.

The Marshals (3-0-1) will head back to Graves County on Tuesday to play the Eagles (2-2) then host Calloway County on Thursday in a double-header with the Lady Marshals.
