Lady Marshals 1st, Marshals 6th in Bowling Green

In their second tournament of the 2021 season, the Lady Marshals won the Lady Gator Invitational and the Marshals finished tied for sixth in the Gator Invitational held at Bowling Green Country Club on Monday.

The Lady Marshals team score of 301 (+13) was 22 strokes better than second place Sacred Heart Academy in the field of 13 teams.

Megan Hertter shot the team low round of 74 (+2) to finish tied for fourth place. Trinity Beth finished seventh with a round of 75 (+3), Savannah Howell and Cecelia Ray both shot 76 (+4) to place tied for eighth and Katie Roberts shot 81 (+9) to finish in a tie for 17th which placed all five team members in the top 20.

Medalist honors went to McCracken County’s Madison Glisson, the only player to finish under par with a 1-under 71.

The team will tee it up today (Tuesday) in the South Warren Lady Spartan Invitational at the Crosswinds course in Bowling Green and will finish out the four-tournament schedule for the week on Thursday in the Lady Rocket Invitational at Weissinger Hills in Shelbyville and Friday in the PLD Lady Bulldog Classic at Kearney Hills in Lexington.

With a team score of 305 (+17), the Marshals finished tied for sixth among a field of 21 teams in the Gator Invitational. Madison Central took first with 290 (+2).

Ryan Stokes and David Jack Morris led the Marshals with rounds of 75 (+3) to finish tied for 21st. Trey Wall was one shot back with 76 (+4) to finish in a tie for 26th, Camdyn McLeod tied for 38th with a round of 79 (+7) and Gunner Hoover shot 88 (+16) to finish tied at 74th.

Individual medalist was Warren Thomis from Madison Central who shot 69 (-3).

Wednesday and Thursday the Marshals will play in the Kentucky Cup in Lexington, Friday the B team will play in the Christian County Invitational and the first week of the season wraps up on Saturday at the Kentucky Invitational Tournament in Louisville at Big Spring Country Club.
