Sophie Galloway is an 8-time individual state champion and 4-time Gatorade Athlete of the Year.

Sophie Galloway announced on WCCK 95.7 Wednesday morning that she has withdrawn her intent to attend the University of Tennessee and will now be taking her track and field talents to the University of Arkansas.

Galloway stated that while she was in Oregon at the Nike Nationals, the coach from Tennessee that recruited her called to tell her he was leaving. Galloway said for a  month she began looking around at other schools after deciding not to go to Tennessee with the coaching change.

She still plans to compete in the Heptathlon which consists of seven events – 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m sprint, long jump, javelin throw, and 800m run. Galloway will also compete in triple jump.

The Razorback team is under the direction of Coach Lance Harter who just completed his 31st year as head coach. He is the most successful head coach in University of Arkansas and SEC cross country and track and field history. Harter is an 8-time National Coach of the Year and 41-time SEC Coach of the Year.
