Mrs. Juanita Ophelia Bloomingburg, 99 of Corbin, KY, formerly of Benton, KY, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at Williamsburg Nursing and Rehabilitation in Williamsburg, KY.

Born Tuesday, May 2, 1922, in Rives, Obion Co., TN, she was the daughter of the late Dexter Dee Vaughn and the late Lovie Mae (Leigh) Vaughn. Moving with her family to St. Louis, MO, she took on previously male dominated trades, like many women during WWII, to support the war effort. Later, after moving back to Western KY, she would work several years and retire from the J.U. Kevil Center in Mayfield, KY while being a loving wife and mother.

On October 13, 1945, she married George L. Bloomingburg and they would share 55 years together, until his death in 2001. She then moved closer to her family in Corbin, KY, where she became a member of the 19th Street church of Christ. Prior to her move, she had been a member of the Oak Valley church of Christ in Benton for more than 30 years.

Surviving are son, Allen Bloomingburg of Corbin, KY, brother, Dexter Vaughn of Sarasota, FL; grandsons, Joshua Bloomingburg of Corbin, KY, Michael Bloomingburg of Corbin, KY; granddaughters, Ashley Sammons of Barbourville, KY, Rebecca Bailey of Hickory, NC, and Michelle Poynter of Williamsburg, KY; also, 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Glen Bloomingburg. Also preceding were two brothers, George T. Vaughn and Robert C. Vaughn, sister, Della Mae Evitts, grandson, Jonathan Bloomingburg and granddaughter, Pamela Gray.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. David Hendrickson will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Benton Cemetery, Benton, KY.

Friends may visit with the family after 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
