Nimmo, Wall compete in Barbasol Junior Championship

Local golfers, Jay Nimmo and Trey Wall, competed this week in the Barbasol Junior Championship held at the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky. The nationally ranked junior tournament features top junior player age 19 and under who have not entered their first year of college.

The 3-day tournament scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday was cut to a two-day event after rain cancelled Thursday’s final round.

Preston Summerhays of Scottsdale, Az. won by six strokes with 11-under (64-69/133). Among a field of international players, Jay finished T28 at +3 (73-74/147) and Trey T69 at +12 (79-77/156). Also from the local area, St. Mary’s Rocco Zakutney finished T60 at +9 (77-76/153).

Jay, the 2019 and 2020 Kentucky State Champion, will head to Mississippi State to play for the Bulldogs and Trey will enter his junior season as a member of the Marshall County High School golf team.
