
Mr. Bill J. Greenfield, age 91, of Mayfield passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY.
On January 21, 1930, Bill J. Greenfield, first grandchild of Sires family was born. Bill was born in Marshall County and lived in Akron, OH for 17 years. He moved to Benton, KY in 1946. Bill graduated from Benton High School and attended Murray State University. He graduated Officers’ Candidate School, Fort Bliss, Texas in 1953 and served in Korea antiaircraft and guided missiles as Lieutenant, United States Army. He served as captain in Army reserves and went into used car and tire business with his father until Carl’s retirement in 1975. Bill was sole owner of Greenfield Brothers Tires in Benton, KY until 1986. He was a member of West Broadway Baptist Church and a retired employee of MVP Group International.
Mr. Greenfield is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty Thomas Greenfield and one brother, Carl W. (Ruth) Greenfield of Benton, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred Sires Greenfield.
Funeral services for Mr. Bill J. Greenfield will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY. Rev. Jared Baker and Rev. Bill Ramsey will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg Smothers, Stan Richards, Patrick Thielen, Taylor Mays, James Thomas, Jackie Thomas, Johnny Thomas and Chris Fowler.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the funeral home.
