Mrs. Thelma Jean Smith, age 97, of Mayfield passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former employee of Mayfield Manufacturing and Merit Clothing Company.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Smith (Charles Ray) Harris of Mayfield, KY; one sister, Gena VanNess Foote of Sacramento, CA; one granddaughter, Jennifer Harris (Phil) Gentlesk of Charlotte, NC; and two great grandchildren, Hannah Gentlesk and Grace Gentlesk both of Charlotte, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Roy Smith; two brothers, Gerald VanNess and Bo VanNess; three sisters, Catherine Finn, Mary Ruth Krob and Hilda McLaughlin; and her parents, Leo and Ermine Willett VanNess.
A funeral mass for Mrs. Thelma Jean Smith will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Eric Riley will officiate. Interment will follow at McKendree Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.
