
On the heels of three great wins at the Meade County Mighty May Matchup, the Lady Marshals head into their final week of the regular season. Today, they play at Graves County (11-7) and Friday will host Lyon County (21-9) – the Lady Lyons currently sit atop the Region 2 standings.
Friday in Brandenburg, the Lady Marshals beat Holy Cross (Louisville) 7-5 on eight hits.
Tied 1-1 after two innings, the Lady Marshals scoring on a sacrifice hit by Gabbi Lovett, they added two runs in the the top of the third on a two-run single by Presley Jezik to lead 3-1 until the bottom of the fourth when Holy Cross brought in four runs to take a 5-3 lead.
The Lady Marshals answered with four of their own in the top of the fifth, runs scoring on a double by Cayson Conner, single by Kinley Edwards and sacrifice from Riley Piercefield.
Lovett picked up the win over two and two thirds innings, striking out one and allowing one hit and one run.

In Saturday’s first game of the Meade County Mighty May Matchup, the Lady Marshals scored 10 runs over the first four innings on 12 hits to beat Christian Academy-Louisville 10-0.
Gabbi Lovett pitched the shutout over five innings, allowing just two hits. Cayson Conner, McKenzie Elkins, Riley Piercefield and Layne Pea all were 2-for-3 at the plate – Conner had one RBI, Elkins had two and Piercefield four RBIs.
Singles by Cayson Conner and Elkins brought in the first three runs in the bottom of the first. Piercefield’s two RBI single in the bottom of the third and Elkins run on a passed ball made it a 6-0 after three innings.
The final four runs in the bottom of the fourth scored on a sacrifice by Presley Jezik, another two RBI single by Piercefield and single by Anna Vasseur.

The Lady Marshals shut out South Oldham in their second game on Saturday. Gracelyn Darnall and Tia Thorpe shared pitching duties – Darnall getting the win in three innings, striking out two and allowing one hit, Thorpe struck out one and allowed two hits.
Six runs in the first inning proved to be enough for the rest of the game in the 6-0 win. Charley Pursley and Sarenna Tomassi led off with singles followed by a single from Cayson Conner that brought in the first run.
A walk by Kinley Edwards loaded up the bases then two runs crossed home plate on a double by Presley Jezik. With two outs on the board, Edwards made it 4-0 on a steal of home plate followed by two runs scoring a single by Layne Pea.
