Palma, KY (May 20th, 2021) – Circuit Judge Jamie Jameson and the members of the 42nd Judicial Circuit Community Corrections Board, Inc., are hosting a forum Thursday May 20th, 2021 at 7 p.m. at Zion’s Cause Baptist Church, 1532 U.S. Hwy 68, Benton. The public forum and fundraiser will be about plans that are progressing to bring two separate 100-bed long term inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities to Marshall and Calloway counties that will also help surrounding counties.
“Governor Fletcher and his nonprofit, The Fletcher Foundation, have teamed up with our local Corrections Board, also a nonprofit, to build and begin operations of these lifesaving facilities our community needs so badly,” said Jameson. Jameson continued, “While Drug Court and other smaller programs currently working with those suffering from addiction are very important tools in this war, the 100-bed facilities will bring the large-scale change we have needed for several years now. These facilities will save dozens of lives each year and put hundreds of people annually in a position to leave addiction behind and improve, not only their lives, but the lives of their loved ones and our community as a whole.”
“We invite the members of the community that are interested in recovery, a problem that affects us all, to come join us Thursday May 20th at 7 p.m. and see what this project is about,” stated Jameson. “96% of the cases that come through Marshall & Calloway Circuit Courts are drug-related. All our judges do anymore is manage addiction without the proper tools. These facilities will take a big bite out of this problem by getting people sober; saving lives, families, and putting them back into the job market.” continued Jameson.
Several local leaders, survivors of addiction, and Former Governor Ernie Fletcher will be speaking at the event. Following the Re-Life Project presentation, Judge Jameson will preside over the first edition of the 2021 Drug Court graduations for the judicial circuit he serves which consists of Calloway & Marshall counties. The graduation will include video presentations from families of the graduates illustrating how recovery can redeem lives and a families. Members of the public and the media are invited to attend.
