
Friday and Saturday at Buchanon Park in Bowling Green, the Lady Marshals split their four games in the Best of the West. Friday they fell to Great Crossing 7-6 and beat Franklin-Simpson 15-4. Saturday they lost to Daviess County 10-5 and followed it up with an 8-1 win over Scott County.
In their first game on Friday against Great Crossing, the Lady Marshals were down 2-0 before a 3-run top of the third put them up by one – the runs scoring on a single by Presley Jezik and sacrifice from Sarenna Tomassi.
They added to their lead with a run in the fifth on a double by Kinley Edwards. That lead was wiped out by Great Crossing in the bottom of the inning when they put up five runs to lead 7-4.
They pulled to within one in the top of the seventh – two runs scoring on a single by McKenzie Elkins and RBI ground out by Riley Piercefield – but left the tying run stranded with the final out.

Following the loss to Great Crossing, the Lady Marshals amassed 26 hits to beat Franklin-Simpson 15-4. Charley Pursley was 2-for-6 with a double, triple and RBI, Sarenna Tomassi 4-for-5 at the plate with a double and three RBIs, Cayson Conner 5-for-5 with a double, Kinley Edwards 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Riley Piercefield 3-for-5 with three RBIs and Gabbi Lovett 4-for-5 with two RBIs.
Leading 4-3 after three innings, the Lady Marshals six runs in the top of the fourth swung momentum their way the rest of the game. The inning began on singles by Lovett and Layne Pea with runs scoring on a double by Pursley, a two RBI single by Tomassi and singles by Edwards, Jezik and Piercefield.
Emily Garland picked up the win over three inning, allowing five hits, two runs and struck out three.

In Saturday’s 10:00 a.m. game, the Lady Marshals led 5-4 after one inning but couldn’t get a run across the plate the rest of the game in the 10-5 loss to top 10 ranked Daviess County.
The five bottom of the first runs came on two outs. Cayson Conner was hit by a pitch, Kinley Edwards walked and Presley Jezik singled to load up the bases. Runs scored on a single by McKenzie Elkins, Riley Piercefield and Gabbi Lovett were hit by pitches to bring runs in and Layne Pea hit a two-run double.

The Lady Marshals wrapped up games in the Best of the West with a 8-1 win over Scott County on 10 hits. Gracelyn Darnall picked up the win in four innings of work, allowing six hits and one run. At the plate, Cayson Conner was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Kinley Edwards 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs and Gabbi Lovett was 2-for-3 hitting a double.
Conner’s triple brought in the first two runs in the bottom of the first and a sacrifice by Edwards scored the third. A 4-0 lead came on an RBI ground out by Charley Pursley in the bottom of the second.
Three more runs in the bottom of the third were brought in on a triple by Edwards, Presley Jezik single and RBI ground out by Layne Pea. A sacrifice out by McKenzie Elkins brought a run in for an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Scott County avoided the shut out with a run in the top of the fifth.
Four games this week start Monday at Hickman County followed by a district game on Wednesday at home against Calloway County. The week wraps up with two home games Saturday against Henderson County and South Warren.
