
Kentucky Dam Marina was host to the eighth KHSAA State Bass Fishing Championship on Friday and Saturday. A total of 176 high school anglers representing 88 teams launched both days at 6:30 a.m. and returned for weigh-in staggered in three flights at 2:30, 2:45 and 3:00.
At the end of the tournament on Saturday, Muhlenberg County’s Lane Tooley and Camden Harris were crowned state champions with a two-day total of 30 lbs. 8 ozs. The two came in third in the Region 1 Championship.
Marshall County’s Sam Mann and Harlan Thomas finished 10th with 23-0. On Friday they weighed in five fish at 11-4 and Saturday 11-12. Ty Redden and Clayton Wyatt, the Region 1 champions, placed 43rd with a two-day total of 16-15.
Bryce McDonald of Paintsville won Big Bass with a fish weighing in at 5-12.
